Give yourself permission

Hello!!

Years ago, when watching movies, I would often look at the characters and dream of being like them. These characters were always the ones living creative lives…they were artists with amazing studios or groovy people who owned cute looking cafes or they were cool designers creating wonderful things. I never aspired to become the lawyers, doctors or corporate types. I always imagined these lucky creative people were born into these lives…they were for other talented people and not for one second did I believe I could have a life like that.

It is so strange when I look back now, but I wasn't born into the generation who were brought up to believe they could be anything they wanted to be, like our kids these days. It was assumed I would get married and have children so why did I need a career or big hopes and dreams of my own. But really, why did I accept this? Who’s permission did I really need to become whatever I wanted to be? The silly thing is I am sure my parents would have be totally supportive of whatever choices I made, if I’d wanted them enough. The only permission I needed was my own.

Is there something in life that you are drawn to that you don’t give yourself permission to do? More likely than not, what’s stopping you isn’t the lack of ideas or a lack of ambition or lack of talent. It’s your own permission to evolve into the person you always wanted to be. Have you also always dreamt of being an artist or perhaps you are the person hooked on courtroom dramas wishing they could be that hotshot lawyer?

The thing that changed for me was changing my mindset. I realised that if I didn't start taking small steps towards living the life I aspired to then nobody else was going to make it happen for me. I was not young when I decided this…I was in my late 30s with three kids and responsibilities. The thing that spurred me on the most was the thought that I didn’t want to get to the end of my life and regret all the things I hadn’t done. Who wants to spend a life doing more of what is expected rather than not enough of what you want. All you need to do is believe that you can.

STUDIO PHOTOSHOOT

Now I am not a big one for getting in front of the camera, but after the studio got a makeover a couple of months ago I didn't have any more excuses...losing 10 kilos beforehand would have been nice, but the studio might be up for its next makeover by the time that happens! haha. My very talented, photographer, daughter, Phoebe, from The May Studio did a wonderful job creating some lovely photos that I am really pleased with...not too staged and I almost look relaxed...Millie & Mabel helped x

Paintings off to new homes this month

If I'm honest the beginning of January started off 2021 a little slow, after having such a wonderful sales year in 2020. It didn't take long for the self doubt to start gnawing at me a little and I was starting to worry about my manifesting powers. I really do think that arranging the photoshoot put a message out there to the universe that I am still in business so send things my way. In the following two weeks 8 paintings and 1 gratitude panel have gone to new homes!! Also another new exciting opportunity has come my way, which I will share with you later...not quite able to share as yet. Here are the ones I have sent out into the world. Thank you so much to the wonderful new owners x

I am currently working on lots of new pieces...sign up to make sure you hear of new releases first and other offers x
